What is the difference between Meditation and Hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis and meditation may have many benefits associated with them. To enter a meditative and hypnotic state are very similar however,  with the use of a therapist hypnotherapy bypasses the critical factor in your brain to have a specific aim at changing a certain behaviour or unwanted feeling. Whereas, meditation is usually used simply as a deep relaxation technique to free the mind of all thoughts and calm the body and mind down. This may have many healing benefits to the individuals mind and body however, a specific change is not targeted. Scientific MRI scanning has also shown that different parts of the brain are activated during hypnotherapy vs. meditation.
